As a memorable UEFA EURO 2012 comes to a close, UEFA's Executive Committee, chaired by UEFA President Michel Platini, will be taking stock of the tournament in Poland and Ukraine, and looking ahead to future final rounds at their latest meeting in Kyiv on Saturday.
The committee will be discussing the distribution of solidarity payments to clubs from the current tournament. Clubs are to receive an increased amount from the UEFA EURO 2012 revenues, as recognition of the contribution that they make to the success of the tournament.
The agenda also includes the bidding procedure and timeline for UEFA EURO 2020. Last month, UEFA announced that some national associations have expressed their interest in the bidding process for the organisation of the final tournament in eight years' time.
UEFA is now setting in motion a formal process which will allow any of its 53 members associations to submit their candidature, irrespective of whether or not they declared a preliminary interest in hosting the 24-team competition. The bidding process is set to last around 18 months to allow candidates to elaborate their bid dossiers.
On the club football front, the Executive Committee will decide on the hosts of the 2014 and 2015 UEFA Super Cups. The committee decided in June 2011 to move the Super Cup match – between the holders of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League – to new surroundings, with Prague's Eden Stadium staging the 2013 edition. The match, which heralds the start of the new European club season, has taken place in Monaco each year since the Super Cup became a single match in 1998.
Regulations are also up for approval for the 2012/13 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, UEFA European Under-19 Championship, UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship and the UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship, as well as the format and regulations of the UEFA European Futsal Championship for 2012/14.
Also on Saturday, the UEFA President will be among those expressing their views on UEFA EURO 2012, as well as on the Executive Committee's deliberations, at the closing EURO press conference at Kyiv's Olympic Stadium – the venue for Sunday's final between Spain and Italy.
