On Wednesday 25 May 2011 the European football community will again celebrate the lifeblood of the game as many of UEFA's 53 member national associations come together for UEFA Grassroots Day – and you can now access a special multilingual website dedicated to the occasion.
Available in English since mid-February, the UEFA Grassroots Day website, hosted within the UEFA Training Ground, has now gone live in French, German and Spanish. The microsite is focused on the second staging of the now annual event, trumpeting the grassroots game across Europe, as approved by UEFA's Executive Committee.
Taking place three days before the sport's highest-profile professional club match – the UEFA Champions League final – UEFA Grassroots Day will recognise the other end of the football spectrum, without which the elite level could not flourish.
The UEFA Grassroots Day website is the only place to go for the latest news on all activities planned both at the main event in London as well as across the associations, with a calendar of events that is constantly updated. The site also has photos from last year's festivities and video features about the three winners of the 2010 UEFA Grassroots Day Awards – given to the best grassroots project, team and leader, as voted for by UEFA's grassroots panel.
In the lead-up to 25 May and beyond, the site will also provide educational material on key topics such as winning, losing and teamwork. Teachers, coaches and parents can access online lessons designed to aid youngsters' understanding of values that have huge sporting, educational and social significance, while games that stimulate learning are also available on this interactive website.
