Newcastle United FC have been dealt a double blow after it was revealed that winger Damien Duff will join defender Craig Moore on the sidelines for the next month.

'Out for weeks'
Duff sustained a knee injury during last Saturday's English Premiership draw at Arsenal FC and following a consultation with a specialist today, it has been confirmed that the 27-year-old Irish international will be out of action for several weeks. Australian international Moore, meanwhile, damaged his hamstring in the same game. The 30-year-old was plagued by similar problems last season, and Newcastle manager Glenn Roeder admitted: "Moore and Duff are definitely going to be out for a few weeks, that's for sure."

Casualty list
Newcastle's casualty list also includes strikers Michael Owen and Shola Ameobi, who will both sit out the rest of the season, while Stephen Carr and Celestine Babayaro missed Thursday's UEFA Cup victory against RC Celta de Vigo which consolidated the club's place at the top of Group H. In addition long-serving goalkeeper Steve Harper, who came into the team for nine league matches during Shay Given's enforced absence following stomach surgery, is to have an operation for a minor groin problem.
